ABOUT THE PROJECT
“This reminds me of Manhattan,” the client said during our first visit to the apartment. From the eleventh floor, panoramic views unfold across central Lviv. This first impression helped shape the atmosphere of the project.
LIVO is a 104 m² apartment where expansive city views meet the warmth of wood, a restrained colour palette, and traditional details. We wanted to create a home that offers a sense of connection to the city alongside the calm of a private retreat.
THE BRIEF
To rethink the original layout so that the apartment’s generous floor area translates into everyday comfort. The priorities were to create an open shared living space, provide ample storage, and organise practical household functions.
Aesthetically, we sought a balance between traditional details and contemporary simplicity. We focused on proportions, materials, and colour — decisions that give a home its character and remain relevant over time.
LAYOUT
The original layout required substantial changes. The revised plan introduced a walk-in wardrobe, a separate shower room, and a bathroom with a utility area set apart from the space used for daily routines. This gave practical needs their own designated places and brought greater clarity to the layout.
The open-plan kitchen and living area became the centre of the apartment. Cooking, conversation, and relaxation share one space, allowing people to stay connected while going about different activities.
The kitchen has an unconventional configuration. We focused on its functionality and its visual presence within the shared living area. Using different colours and materials for the upper and lower cabinets helped make the composition feel lighter.
MATERIALS & ATMOSPHERE
Oak, marble, terrazzo, and painted MDF form the material foundation of the interior. We selected them with attention to durability, texture, and how they work together across both broad surfaces and smaller details.
In the kitchen, smoky blue upper cabinets are paired with warm wood below. The contrast in colour temperature and texture adds depth to the restrained palette and visually breaks up the cabinetry.
Traditional elements lend the interior a familiar, lived-in quality, while simple forms preserve a sense of openness. The panorama of Lviv remains a living part of the atmosphere: as the light, weather, and seasons change, so does the experience of the apartment.
